For the 26th Year, OC Christian Writers Conference will convene on May 1, 2010 with a full slate of best selling authors, magazine and book editors, and a literary agent. This conference will feature two three-part writing workshops for limited enrollment, 21 different lectures ranging from children's writing to devotional writing, and inspirational magazine writing. (PRWEB) January 4, 2010 -- OC Christian Writers Conference will take place in Irvine, California with top speakers such as Mick Silva of WaterBrook Press, who will discuss the self-publishing phenomena The Shack and how it turned into a mainstream publishing best seller. For registration information go to Writers Conference. One individual consult with a faculty member is included in conference registration. Priority for appointments with faculty is based on date of enrollment. Early registration assures conferees of their choice of faculty consult. A catered lunch will be served at faculty-hosted tables where each conferee will get some personal time with a speaker.
Three-Part Continuing Workshops: One of the strongest features of this one-day writers conference is the focus on developing writing skills—both fiction and non-fiction. Advance submission is required for these classes, and enrollment is limited. Susan Meissner, best selling novelist, will host a three-part fiction workshop for 12 attendees. Her workshop will focus on the key aspects of developing a novel. See a full description of her workshop here. Writer, editor and popular instructor Kathy Ide will host a three-part writing workshop for non-fiction writers. She calls it an intensive workshop and it is. She's had many of her graduates over the years go on to publication. If you are struggling with revising an article or a non-fiction book, this is the class for you. See a full description here.
Don Alban, editor of Power for Living, one of the largest general circulation inspirational magazines, will host two workshops. The first will help non-fiction writers develop strategies for publishing in the Christian inspirational market. The second will focus on writing the effective profile for the Christian market. If you want to break into the inspirational magazine market, these are lectures you won't want to miss. For information on our entire faculty go to Faculty Profiles.
Susan King, assistant editor with Upper Room Devotionals, the world's largest and oldest publisher of devotional material and books, will host two important workshops for devotional writers. She's going to focus on the four essentials of writing the effective devotional. She will also be taking individual consults to discuss your devotional writing.
Susan Titus Osborne, acquisitions editor, New Hope Publishers, will be giving two workshops for the beginning writer, Writing 101 and Writing from the Heart. Susan is a publishing veteran who is also the director of Christian Communicator Manuscript Critique Service, one of the oldest and finest critique services in existence. If you need some concrete direction for your writing career, these would be good workshops to begin with.
Nancy Sanders is an award winning writer for children. She is the author of 75 books published with Tyndale, Standard, Scholastic, Barbour, and Reader's Digest, among others. She will be speaking on how to establish a career as a children's writer. She will also speak on developing characters, plot and dialogue with kid appeal.
